AU-800 Troubleshooting Guide - E30–E38: IR Transmission and Reflection Errors

The E30 to E38 series of error codes on your RUNTOP AU-800 device refers to the Infrared (IR) Sensors. These sensors measure the density of the paper and ensure that no two notes are overlapping.

Common Causes for IR Errors:

  1. Dust: Because IR sensors are optical, even a fine layer of dust can "blind" them.
  2. Direct Sunlight: Manual Page 2 warns: "Do not place the machine in direct sunlight." Strong UV/IR rays from the Australian sun can interfere with the internal sensors.

The Solution:
Check the "Service Menu" (Manual Page 11) under "Read Sensor Values." This allows you to see if a specific sensor (like FL1 or UV) is giving an abnormal reading. Usually, a thorough cleaning of the internal path with compressed air or the provided brush will clear these codes instantly.
