AU-800 Troubleshooting Guide - E20–E24: The MG and MT Sensor Faults

Modern currency, including various international notes handled in Australia, often contains magnetic ink and metal threads. Your RUNTOP AU-800 counter uses MG and MT sensors to verify these. If you see codes E20 through E24, there is a fault or a blockage in these magnetic reading areas.

Cleaning is Key:
Magnetic sensors are sensitive to metallic dust and residue. If you are getting frequent MG errors on genuine notes:

  1. Turn off the machine and unplug it.
  2. Use the Nylon Brush to clean the "Banknote Processing Wheel" area where the MG sensors reside.
  3. Restart the machine.

If the error persists only on specific notes, the machine has successfully identified a note with weak or missing magnetic properties - a common sign of a counterfeit!
