AU-800 Troubleshooting Guide - E2 & E3 Errors with Double and Chained Notes

Are you seeing E2 or E3 on your RUNTOP AU-800 Multi-Currency Value Counter? These codes refer to "Double Notes" and "Chained Notes." Essentially, the machine is pulling in two or more notes at once, which prevents an accurate count.

The Solution:
In the Australian climate, humidity can sometimes cause notes to stick together. Before loading your hopper, "fan" the banknotes (as shown in Manual Page 5) to separate them.

If the problem continues, the issue is likely the Feeding Gap. Over time, the rubber rollers can shift.

  1. Locate the Adjustable Screw on the top of the machine (Manual Page 4).
  2. If you are getting E2/E3 errors, the gap is too wide.
  3. Turn the screw anti-clockwise (-) by half a "dot" to decrease the gap.

Fine-tuning your feeding gap ensures that only one note passes through at a time, keeping your end-of-day reconciliation fast and error-free.
